Every student who walks through our doors brings a unique story shaped by learning, effort, and resilience. This month, we’re proud to share one of those stories. A reminder that progress looks different for every child, and that each step forward is worth celebrating.

Meet 10-year-old Santiago.

For Santiago, math was especially challenging. Concepts like math facts, fractions, and problem-solving often felt overwhelming, and building confidence took time. Through regular work with volunteers at the Center, Santiago began to strengthen both his skills and his belief in himself.

With patience, practice, and consistent encouragement, difficult concepts slowly started to make sense. Our volunteers worked closely with Santiago—reviewing fundamentals, practicing regularly, and celebrating progress along the way. That steady support paid off. Recently, Santiago earned first place in his school’s 2025 Math Facts Award, a meaningful achievement that reflects his determination and hard work.

Moments like this show how the right support, paired with persistence, can lead to powerful outcomes.

Looking Ahead

Stories like Santiago’s reflect the heart of our mission: creating a safe, supportive space where students can grow academically, socially, and emotionally. We are proud of our students’ dedication and deeply grateful to the volunteers, staff, and families who help make these successes possible—one day, one breakthrough, one victory at a time.
